College Football's Bottom 25 2025, Week 9

Alumni Stadium, home of the Boston College Eagles

There wasn't a lot of movement this week, at least in terms of movement either into or out of the poll. Four teams were winners, with Virginia Tech and Kent State winning their way out of the poll and Akron and South Alabama making significant drops toward the bottom.

Meanwhile, Kentucky and North Carolina both made positive steps towards BASKETBALL season while the football squads both fell to 2-5 and joined the B25 fray.

As always, enjoy the games!

1) Massachusetts (0-8) The Minute - Men took a trip to Mount Pleasant to take on Central Michigan and the results were anything but pleasant, with a 38-13 blasting at the hands of the Chippewas being the cost. Next is a BYE weekend before what will likely be a Tuesday Bummer Bowl at Akron.

2) Sam Houston (0-7) The Fearkats had a BYE before next week's Friday night Halloween showdown at Louisiana Tech.

3) Charlotte (1-7) The 24.5ers started out strong, building a 17-7 lead before eventually being overrun at home by the North Texas Mean Green, 54-20. Next is a BYE weekend before a date at East Carolina.

4) Nevada (1-7) The Wolfcack dropped their 6th straight, 24-3 at home to Boise State. Like Charlotte and Georgia State, Nevada gets a late season BYE before visiting Utah State on November 8th.

5) Georgia State (1-7) The Panters do what 25ers often do, losing on a late mistake, such as throwing an interception near midfield while trying to drive for the tying score. Which is exactly what happened in what was a very entertaining Bummer Bowl, with GSU falling 38-31 Thursday night at home to South Alabama. Next up is a BYE before a date at Coastal Carolina on November 8th.

6) Oklahoma State (1-7) Seven straight losses for the Cowtoys after a 42-0 stoning at nationally ranked Texas Tech. Next, (not) OK State takes a trip to the other Manhattan to take on Kansas.

7) Boston College (1-7) The Fleagles lost by an almost identical score as the previous week, falling 38-24 at Louisville, after a 38-23 loss to Connecticut the week before. Next up, BC hosts the Catholic Clash as Our Lady visits Chestnut Hill.

8) Oregon State (1-7) The Beavers had a BYE weekend and will now take on their old school PAC 12 rivals, hosting Washington State. Sing it along with me....🎶"just the PAC 2 of us, you and I"🎶

9) Middle Tennessee State (1-6) The Blue Faiders made a game of things with a late interception leading to a TD to bring them within 3 points, but they did eventually fall 31-28 at Delaware. Next up is a CUSA Wednesday affair hosting Jacksonville (not the one in Florida) State.

10) Eastern Michigan (2-7) The Beagles, to be fair, have played (and lost) a lot of close games, including their most recent, a 28-21 home loss to Ohio. Next up is a BYE before Bowling Green pays a visit to the iconic (and weird) grey turf of Rynearson Stadium.

11) Tulsa (2-6) The Golden Bore-icane were anything but boring, taking Temple to overtime before eventually bowing out, 38-37. Next is a BYE before a trip to south Florida to take on Florida Atlantic.

12) West Virginia (2-6) The Fountainbeers are now at 5 straight losses after TCU took them down at home, 23-7. It gets worse next week with a visit to Big 12 conference leaders Houston.

13) Colorado State (2-6) The Lambs were corralled by the Wyoming Cowboys, on the bad side of a 28-0 slaughtering in Laramie. Next up is a BYE week before the UNLV Runnin' Fieris come to town.

14) Purdue (2-6) The Shotandabeers have hit six straight losses now, too, after a 27-24 home loss to Rutgers. Next up is a visit to nationally ranked Michigan.

15) Wisconsin (2-6) 🎶On Wisconsin, On Wisconsin, on to another loss.....🎶The Sadgers were beaten 21-7 at #6 Oregon. Next up is a BYE before Washington visits Madison.

16) Arkansas (2-6) The Dazerbacks are yet another team with six straight losses after hosting Auburn to the tune of a 33-24 loss. Next up, 4-4 Mississippi State visits. Arkansas just needs a win. They are a good team, but that schedule is probably going to have them end the season with 9 or 10 losses.

17) Northern Illinois (2-6) The Huskies took win #2 after six straight losses, ripping Ball State 21-7 at home. Next is a BYE weekend before a Wednesday showdown at Toledo on 11/5.

18) South Alabama (2-6) The Jaguars finally got win #2, prevailing 38-31 in a Thursday night Bummer Bowl at Georgia State. Next up, the Louisiana Fadin' Cajuns visit for a Sun Belt Bummer Bowl.

19) Kentucky (2-5) The Mildcats scored a ton but gave up many more, getting clobbered 56-34 at home by Tennessee to fall into the poll. Next up is a BYE week before a visit from Florida.

20) North Carolina (2-5) The Bellichickian Mar Heels show up in the B25 for the first time this season after a tight 17-16 OT loss to Virginia. Next up is a Halloween fright night at DHMers Syracuse.

21) San Jose State (2-5) The Fartans had a BYE week. Next, the Hawai'i Rainbow Warriors visit on November 1st.

22) Louisiana (2-5) The Fadin' Cajuns were gumboed at Troy, 35-23. Next up is another trip to 'Bama to take on South Alabama in the crawdaddy of all Sun Belt Bummer Bowls.

23) Air Force (2-5) The Failcons had a BYE before their second Commander in Chief's Trophy hosting Army.

24) UTEP (2-5) The Minors also had a BYE weekend. Next, they visit Fifth Third Stadium, the FBS' smallest venue, to take on Kennesaw State on a Tuesday night.

25) Akron (3-6) The Zips got back in the win column at Buffalo, taking down the Bulls 24-16 and almost propelling themselves out of the 25. Next up are two more chances for a win after next weekend's BYE, hosting first B25 #1 Massachusetts on Wednesday 11/4, followed by a visit from Kent State one week later.

DISHONORABLE MENTION: Florida Atlantic, Stanford, Syracuse, Colorado, Michigan State, Ball State, Bowling Green, South Carolina, Georgia Southern and Louisiana-Monroe.

Dropped Out: Virginia Tech (3-5) and Kent State (3-5)
