College Football's "Original" Bottom 25 Poll, Week 11, 2025

Skelly Field at H.A. Chapman Stadium, home of the Tulsa Golden Hurricane

Apparently, Sam Houston did not take kindly to their new rank at #1 last week and promptly went out and fell on Oregon State last weekend to win their first game of 2025. That leaves Massachusetts as 2025's final remaining winless FBS squad and tumbles them right back to the top.

Four new schools join this week for the first time in '25, with two dropping out entirely after winning (Wisconsin, Air Force) and two moving into the DHM who were static with a BYE last weekend.

As always, enjoy the games! And, as a side note, as a football fan, look into one of the Bummer Bowls sometime... games between rivals with bad records can be as entertaining to watch as a matchup with national title implications.

1) Massachusetts (0-9) The Minute - Men fumbled on their first offensive play from scrimmage, surely a sign. Then, they recovered and by the end of the first quarter, the score was 14-10 and they were in the game. Then came 30 consecutive points scored by DHMers Akron, and it was a 44-10 loss. Next up, Northern Illinois drops by Amherst for another MAC weekday Bummer Bowl on Wednesday.

2) Boston College (1-9) The Fleagles did NOT ride the Mustangs of  SMU, taking a 45-13 home loss. The reward is a visit from nationally ranked Georgia Tech, who are well rested after a BYE week.

3) Middle Tennessee State (1-8) The Blue Faiders moved back to weekend football, but it didn't help as Florida International clobbered them at home, 56-30. Next up is a cross border visit to take on Western Kentucky.

4) Charlotte (1-8) The 24.5ers almost matched their name with their margin of defeat, falling 48-22 at East Carolina. Next, UTSA (aka the University of Texas- San Antonio)visits the Queen City.

5) Nevada (1-8) The Wolfcack have now lost 7 straight games after their 51-14 drubbing at Utah State. About half of their losses have been one score games, however, so it is possible a win could be in the offing at home next week against new 25ers San Jose State in an MWC Bummer Bowl.

6) Georgia State (1-8) The Panters basically have ZERO defense and that was proven once again with a 40-27 loss at Coastal Carolina. Georgia State averages giving up 49 points per game, which does not bode well for next weekend's visit from Marshall who averages scoring 33 points per game.

7) Oklahoma State (1-8) The Cowtoys had a BYE weekend. Next, Kansas State visits Stillwater.

8) Sam Houston (1-8) The Bearkats didn't like being number one and reacted by winning the Orange on Orange Bummer Bowl battle, beating Oregon State on the road, 21-17. Next, Delaware visits next Saturday.

9) Purdue (2-8) The losing streak is now at 8 for the Shotandabeers after a 34-10 beating from national #1 Ohio State. Next, a long road trip to Washington, who is also nationally ranked.

10) Oregon State (2-8) The Greavers lost the Orange on Orange Bummer Bowl at home to former B25 #1 Sam Houston, 21-17, giving the Bearkats their first win. Next up is a Bummer Bowl at Tulsa.

11) South Alabama (2-7) The Saguars followed win #2 with loss number 7, falling 31-22 at home to Louisiana in a Sun Belt Bummer Bowl. Next is a BYE before a potential Bummer Bowl at Louisiana Monroe.

12) UTEP (2-7) The Miners lost at Jacksonville (not the Florida one) State 30-27. Next up is a visit to Missouri State, who are having a strong first season in the FBS.

13) Tulsa (2-7) The Golden Bore-icane almost got doubled up, 40-21 at Florida Atlantic. Next is a home Bummer Bowl against Oregon State.

14) Colorado State (2-7) The UNLV Runnin' Fieris basted the Lambs 42-10 in Fort Collins. The Lambs head south this coming weekend for a cross border clash at New Mexico.

15) Northern Illinois (2-7) The Fusskies had ZERO offense going for them in a 42-3 loss at Toledo. Next is another Wednesday night game, this one being a MAC Bummer Bowl at new B25 #1 Massachusetts.

16) Arkansas (2-7) The Dazerbacks had a needed BYE before this week's journey to Baton Rouge to take on LSU.

17) Bowling Green (3-7) Four straight losses for the Failcons now as they lost a MAC Bummer Bowl at Eastern Michigan, 27-21. Next is a BYE weekend before two straight Tuesday games, first hosting Akron and then at UMass to close out the 2025 season.

18) Syracuse (3-7) The Puce are the third 25er without a BYE yet who have reached ten games played. The tenth being a 38-10 loss at Miami. Now comes the BYE week, at last. Hard to believe that this team was 3-1 at one point.

19) Colorado (3-7) The Beefaloes have also hit the game ten mark, losing at West Virginia, 29-22. Next, like Syracuse, Colorado gets a BYE week.

20) Stanford (3-7) The Marginal lost their ACC Cross Country Almost Bummer Bowl at North Carolina, 20-15. Next up is a BYE before The Game hosting California.

21) Eastern Michigan (3-7) The Eagles won a home MAC Bummer Bowl over Bowling Green, 27-21. Next up comes a visit to Ball State, the alma mater of one David Letterman.

22) New Mexico State (3-6) The (What's an?) Aggies join off of their 4th straight loss, 24-21 at home to Kennesaw State. Next is a visit to Neyland Stadium to face the 103,000 orange clad fans of Tennessee.

23) Kent State (3-6) The Golden Flashless are back in following a 17-13 loss former DHMers Ball State. Next up is a Tuesday night MAC special at Akron. Hey....that's tonight!!!

24) Texas State (3-6) The Sobcats join for the first time in 2025 after their 5th loss in a row, 42-39 at Louisiana. Four of those five losses were by one score, so perhaps after this weekend's visit to SBC West leaders Southern Miss, chances for victory for the Sobcats may be in the offing with future dates against 25ers South Alabama and DHMers Louisiana-Monroe.

25) tie UAB (3-6) The Lazyers are in, dropping to 3-6 after last weekend's 24-17 loss at Rice. Next up, North Texas visits.

25) tie San Jose State (3-6) The (Paul) Blart-ans essentially replace the team that beat them at home 26-16 last week, Air Force. Next up is a trip to Nevada for an MWC Bummer Bowl.

DISHONORABLE MENTION: Virginia Tech (3-6), Michigan State (3-6), Louisiana- Monroe (3-6), Penn State (3-6), UCLA (3-6) and Florida (3-6)

Dropped Out: Wisconsin, Air Force
