College Football's "Original" Bottom 25 Poll, Week 14, 2025 - The Final Poll
The 2025 season is over for all of the 25ers, with Massachusetts capping an unchampionship with an 0-12 record. In addition, all 3 teams finishing directly behind them each only had a win over an FCS opponent to the positive in their records.
California leads the way with three B25 finalists in the poll (UCLA, Stanford and San Jose State), with Massachusetts, Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas each adding two entrants, including both sides of a state rivalry, Colorado State and Colorado, who did NOT play each other this year. I see a fictional bowl in the future between them!
As for the conferences, the twelve team Mountain West and the seventeen member ACC both had four entrants in the 25. Surprisingly, the Sun Belt only had 2, tied with the Big 12, Big1G (12, 18, whatever) and the AAC. Conference USA and the MAC have three teams in, but worst of all, fully 50% of the PAC 2 are in the final poll!
Stay tuned in the coming weeks for the Capital None Fictional Bowl Week matchups and the coaching carousel and, as always, enjoy the games!
1) Massachusetts (0-12) The Minute - Men capped the imperfect season, losing 45-14 at home two days before Thanksgiving in a Bummer Bowl against Bowling Green. The offense was good, but the defense got chewed up to the tune of 278 rushing yards against.
2) Charlotte (1-11) The 24.5ers lost their season finale’ at Tulane, 27-0. A single 7- point win over an FBS squad is the only thing keeping them from an ignominious winless campaign.
3) Georgia State (1-11) The Panters of The Sports Thinker’s alma mater took an early 10-point lead at 8-3 Old Dominion but were then shutout 27-0 for the remainder of the game, and like Charlotte, they were a win over an FCS team away from winlessness.
4) Oklahoma State (1-11) While the Cowtoys did not pick up any additional wins, their final 3 games, including their season ending 20-13 home loss to Iowa State were much more competitive affairs. Those 3 games had an average final score of 17-11 against 3 opponents who had a combined 19-17 record. Perhaps the future will dawn a bit brighter in 2026.
5) Sam Houston (2-10) The Fearkats were mauled 56-16 at home by the FIU Panthers. Season mercifully over.
6) UTEP (2-10) The Minors were henpecked 61-31 at Delaware to finish the 2025 season, closing with 5 straight losses. The win would have made the Blue Hens bowl eligible if this was not their first FBS season.
7) Colorado State (2-10) The Lambs cemented dead last in the Mountain West, finishing 2025 with 6 straight losses, the finisher being a 42-21 bashing in the MWC Bummer Bowl Ram-Falcon Trophy home rivalry game against Air Force.
8) Purdue (2-10) Well, you could see this coming…the Shotandabeers had no chance to claim the Old Oaken Bucket and were hoovered at home by the national #2 Indiana Hoosiers. Winless in conference games and last place in the Big 10 (12/18, whatever) for Purdue in 2025.
9) Oregon State (2-10) The Greavers won their home game a month ago against Washington State, but not this time on the road after a 32-8 mauling by the Cougars. The PAC2 did indeed end in a tie.
10) Arkansas (2-10) Losses are losses, but after a 2-0 start, the Dazerbacks were much better than their 10 straight losses would attest to. Last weekend, they lost the Battle Line Rivalry game at home against Missouri, 31-17 to bring the 2025 campaign to a close. However, of those 10 losses, five were against nationally ranked teams and five of them (not the same 5) were by three points or less. In any other conference, Arkansas likely would have been fighting for bowl eligibility.
11) Boston College (2-10) After almost beating Georgia Tech two weeks ago, the Eagles followed up a BYE week with a decisive 34-12 win at current B25 #16 Syracuse in an ACC Bummer Bowl to close out 2025 on an up note.
12) San Jose State (3-9) The (Paul) Blart-ans lost The Battle of The Valley game at home to Fresno State, 41-14 to put a cap on the 2025 schedule.
13) Virginia Tech (3-9) The Jokies end 2025 on a 4-game losing streak after a 27-7 Commonwealth Clash rivalry loss at Virginia.
14) Louisiana- Monroe (3-9) The MarHawks battled into overtime but fell in the Battle of the Bayou Rivalry game at Louisiana, 30-27, giving the Ragin’ Cajuns bowl eligibility after a 1-6 start!
15) UCLA (3-9) The ‘Ruins took a 10-7 lead into halftime at USC but ultimately lost the Victory Bell game 29-10 to close out 2025 on a down note.
16) Syracuse (3-9) The Puce really fell off the face of the earth in 2025, closing with a 34-12 ACC Bummer Bowl loss against Boston College, finishing with 8 straight losses after a 3-1 start.
17) Colorado (3-9) The Beefaloes finished with 5 straight losses, the last being 24-14 at Kansas State.
18) Northern Illinois (3-9) The Fusskies came close, but ultimately fell 35-31 at home to Kent State on Friday, closing out 2025.
19) Nevada (3-9) The Wolfcack returned to 2025 form after two wins in a row, losing the Fremont Cannon game at home to the UNLV Runnin’ Fieris, 42-17.
20) Middle Tennessee State (3-9) The Blue Raiders close out 2025 on a winning streak after a 31-24 overtime win at New Mexico State in a CUSA (almost) Bummer Bowl.
21) Maryland (4-8) On September 20th, the Terriblepins were 4-0 and riding high. Eight losses later and they close out 2025 in the B25 after a 38-28 home loss to Michigan State.
22) Tulsa (4-8) The Golden Bore-icane are back in off of their season ending 31-24 home loss to former 25ers UAB, which propelled the Blazers out of the poll at the last minute.
23) Wyoming (4-8) Four straight losses, the last being a 27-7 beating in Hawai'i, close out 2025 for the Cowtoys #2.
24) New Mexico State (4-8) The (What's an?) Aggies are in at the end, losing their 2025 finale' 31-24 to curent B25 #20 MTSU to cap a season in which they only beat an FCS team and three fellow 25ers.
25) tie Ball State (4-8) The Marginals end 2025 with three straight losses, the final one being a 45-24 defeat at Miami (Ohio), which also put the RedHawks in the MAC Title game.
25) tie Stanford (4-8) The Marginal (non-plural) closed out 2025 with a 49-20 home loss to Our Lady in the Legends Trophy game to rejoin the 25.
DISHONORABLE MENTION: Eastern Michigan (4-8), Florida Atlantic (4-8), North Carolina (4-8), West Virginia (4-8), Liberty (4-8) South Alabama (4-8), South Carolina (4-8) and Wisconsin (4-8)
Dropped Out: Kent State, UAB, Air Force, Michigan State, Bowling Green and Florida
