College Football Bottom 25, Rivalry Week (13), 2022
And all of the sudden, the ghosts of B25 polls past join the poll this week for the first time this year. FIU, Rutgers and UNLV, welcome home. And those are the best words you can hear on Thanksgiving week!
Enjoy the meal, the turkey, the family and the football!!!
1) Massachusetts (1-10) The Minute-men lost a Bummer Bowl at Texas A&M 20-3. Next, they will host Army to close out the season.
2) Northwestern (1-10) The Mildcats took a 10th straight loss, 17-9 at Purdue. The score was really 24-9, except that a Boilermakers pick 6 TD was called back for “high-stepping”. Which, honestly, is kind of a racist penalty. This week is the season capper with the Land Of Lincoln Trophy game at Illinois.
3) University of South (really West) Florida (1-10) The Nulls lost a Bummer Bowl at B25 #14 Tulsa, 48-42. I told you the Bummer Bowls are good games. Next up, the season ends with US(rW)F hosting cross state rivals UCF in the War on I-4 Rivalry game.
4) Colorado (1-10) The poor Beefalos were clobbered 54-7 at Washington. Colorado closes out 2022 next weekend with their fourth straight game against a ranked opponent, hosting Utah.
5) Akron (1-9) The Zips remained at 1-9 and static after their game at Buffalo on 11/19 was postponed due to snowpocalypse. Next up is the season finale at Northern Illinois, unless the Buffalo game is rescheduled. That might become a possibility if Buffalo loses this coming weekend and needs the game against Akron to become bowl eligible.
6) Nevada (2-9) Nine straight losses for the Wolf-cack after Fresno State beat them 41-14. This week, 2022 ends with a visit to B25 #23 UNLV for The Battle for The Fremont Cannon game, a Rivalry Bummer Bowl.
7) Colorado State (2-9) The Hams got doubled up, 24-12 at Air Force. One last game in 2022, hosting a Bummer Bowl against B25 #8 New Mexico.
8) New Mexico (2-9) The Loblos were beach bummed by San Diego State, 34-10. The 2022 season ends on Friday with a “Well, we can beat SOMEBODY, maybe” challenge Bummer Bowl at Colorado State.
9) Charlotte (3-9) The 49ers finished 2022 with a Bummer Bowl win against Louisiana Tech, 26-21.
10) Hawai’i (3-9) The Rainbow Warriors poke-ed UNLV, 31-25. As Hawai’i always gets 13 games, they have one more to go this weekend at San Jose State to end 2022.
11) Old Dominion (3-8) The Butterflies lost 27-14 at Appalachian State. 2022 closes out at South Alabama next weekend.
12) Stanford (3-8) The Marginal lost the BIG Bummer Bowl BIG Game at California, 27-20. A moribund 2022 campaign closes this weekend hosting a quite disappointing BYU squad.
13) Louisiana Tech (3-8) The Dulldogs lost a Bummer Bowl at B25 #6 Charlotte, 26-21. 2022 finishes next week with a visit from UAB.
14) Arizona State (3-8) The Stunned Devils of Roger Clyne Alma Mater University got gnawed by the Beavers of Oregon State, 31-7. Next up, they will “Duel In The Desert” for the Territorial Cup against Arizona in an almost Bummer Bowl.
15) Temple (3-8) The Fowls got clawed at home by Cincinnati, 23-3. East Carolina visits next weekend to close up the 2022 shop.
16) Northern Illinois (3-8) The Muskies lost Wednesday to Miami of Ohio, 29-23. Akron visits for a finale Bummer Bowl this weekend.
17) Nebraska (3-8) The Bornsuckers lost a squeaker, 15-14 against Wisconsin. Next is a visit to the slightly hillier version of their own state to play at Iowa, thus ending a forgettable 2022 season.
18) Boston College (3-8) The Fleagles were clobbered by Our Lady 44-0, putting them back in the poll. Next, Syracuse comes to Beacon Hill to close out 2022.
19) Arkansas State (3-8) The DedWolves rejoin off of a 16-13 loss at Texas State. Next, the Troy Trojans visit in the season finale for both teams.
20) Virginia Tech (3-8) The Hokies have been on the brink for weeks, including 2 straight one-point losses a few weeks back and they finally hit paydirt with a one-point win, 23-22 at Liberty. Next will be a very emotional Commonwealth Cup Rivalry game hosting a grieving Virginia Cavaliers squad to close the 2022 season.
21) Louisiana-Monroe (4-7) The Marhawks had won two straight close games to fly out of the poll, but a 34-16 loss at Troy brings them back down to earth. Next, the woefully inconsistent Southern Mississippi Eagles come to town.
22) Rutgers (4-7) The Scarlet Blight are in after 4 straight losses, and losing 7 of their last 8, the latest at home against Penn State, 55-10. Next up is a visit to Maryland to put a cap on the season.
23) UNLV (4-7) The Other Wolfcack have suffered 6 consecutive losses after 4-1 start, the latest being last week’s 31-25 loss at Hawai’i. Next, it is the Fremont Canon Game Bummer Bowl game hosting in state rivals Nevada.
24) FIU (4-7) The Panters join for the first time this season after 3 straight blowout losses following their 4-4 start. Last week, they lost 40-6 at UTEP. Next, MTSU visits South Florida to close out the year for both teams.
25) tie Tulsa (4-7) The Golden Hurricane won their home Bummer Bowl, 48-42 over the University of South (really West) Florida. Next is the season finale at Houston.
25) tie Texas A&M (4-7) The (what’s an?) Aggies broke their 6-game losing streak with a 20-3 Bummer Bowl win over B25 #1 Massachusetts, in front of “90,000 +” fans. The reward? Hosting nationally ranked LSU to finish 2022.
Dishonorable Mention (AKA DHM)
West Virginia (4-7), Iowa State (4-7), Kent State (4-7), Indiana (4-7), Navy (4-7), California (4-7), Western Michigan (4-7), Central Michigan (4-7), Texas State (4-7), Georgia State (4-7), Arizona (4-7)
OUT:
Army (4-6)
